River and the billionaire, Noah De Marco have a contract marriage where she acted as surrogate for his children.

He loved a woman who died seven years before he met the River. Before she died, they conceived and froze the embryos to prepare if she could not get pregnant after her cancer treatment but unfortunately she passed away, leaving him with only their embryos.

Noah hired the River to be a replacement wife in his deceased lover’s place to give birth to those children, but he made it clear from the beginning that there will be no love involved between them. He also got vasectomy because he doesn’t want to have children with any other women.

Noah was very adamant about everything and she agreed to the terms. However, six years into their marriage, she became naturally pregnant (there’s 0.03% chance of pregnancy after vasectomy).

River knew her “husband” didn’t want other woman’s child so she was very distraught. She couldn’t take the risk of letting him know and have 50:50 chance he would ask her to abort.

She decided to end their marriage contract even though she didn’t want to leave. Their contract has a caveat that any parties involved can end it at any time, no questions asked.

So, River left, leaving behind no explanation while the billionaire soon realized that the his wife had taken more than just a placeholder role for another woman who had forever gone.
